Updated 02/21/2008

All Directions are from Downtown Orlando:

*** Eastern/Central Florida Trails - http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/guide/regions/eastcentral/eastcentral_region.htm

Orange County Parks and Recreation Facilities - http://parks.orangecountyfl.net/dept/cesrvcs/parks/?REDID={14B2793A-4152-4B98-BD73-909DEF1AED4E}

Seminole County Trails - http://www.seminolecountyfl.gov/pw/trails/index.asp

Seminole Wekiva Trail - Altamonte Springs - Take I-4 East to SR436. Go left (west) and then right at the first light (Douglas Ave.). Go about 1 mile and turn left on Highland St. Go to the end and make a right into Sanlando Park. Good Level B-I-A trail. Trail length currently 26.3 miles and will soon connect to the West Orange Trail via Wekiva Springs/Apopka. Restrooms available at Sanlando Park, and in the shoppes at Lake Mary along the trail. Just be very careful of the intersection at SR434 (where cars are allowed to make turns at the same time as we get the crossing signal) and a few other crossroads along the trail where we are required to stop (not the cars). The new I-4 overpass north of Lake Mary now connects this trail to the Rinehart Rd Trail on the East side. It is now forseeable that in just a few more years, one could skate from Clearmont on the WOT all the way to the Econ Trail. That would be over 50 continuous miles of interconnected trails. Wow!!! http://www.co.seminole.fl.us/trails/trails_semwekiva.asp

Little Econ Greenway - East Orlando - East on Colonial Dr (SR 50) past SR 436, past the 417 Beltway underpass to Dean Rd (approximately 9 miles from downtown). Turn left onto Dean Rd, then about 2/3 mile on the right enter Blanchard Park. Park in the YMCA lot (outer row) at the far east end of the trail on the left. Trail length 6 miles. The trail is smooth and well maintained with large cold water jugs along the way (you need to bring your own containers though). Restrooms are available at Blanchard Park. The YMCA allows visitors inside to their Tropical Smoothie juice bar. 5 miles long one way. Good level B-I-A trail. A local favorite! Highly recommended! http://parks.orangecountyfl.net/ParkDetails.asp?ParkID=25

Also accessible from Colonial Dr (SR 50) just east of Goldenrod Rd. Go east past the Taco Bell on the left shortly after Goldenrod Rd, then just past the Little Econ creek do a u-turn and pull into the parking lot (now on the right) just before the creek.

Winter Garden Trail Station on the West Orange Trail - Downtown Winter Garden - Take West Colonial to Winter Garden (approximately 13 miles), right on Dillard St for about 1 mile, turn right on Plant St about 1/4 mile. The Trail Station will be on your left. Trail goes 5 miles to southwest end at County Line Station (Levels B-I-A). Also goes 10 miles to northeast end at Horseman's Park (Levels I-A) (Potentially dangerous downhill just 1 mile out from the trail station eastbound - MUST be able to BRAKE on a downhill). Restrooms & water fountain available. A local favorite! http://parks.orangecountyfl.net/dept/cesrvcs/parks/ParkDetails.asp?ParkID=46

Killarney/County Line Trail Station on the West Orange Trail - 5 miles past Winter Garden - Take highway 50 West about 5 miles past Winter Garden to SR 438 (Deer Island Rd), turn right off SR 50, then next left. This is the southwest end of the West Orange Trail, and here you can rent skates & bicycles. There are restrooms, a water fountain, and limited refreshments. If you see the Trail Station on your right from SR 50, you just passed the turn off that goes to it! Quite scenic between here and the Winter Garden Trail Station. Good Level B-I-A trail. http://parks.orangecountyfl.net/dept/cesrvcs/parks/ParkDetails.asp?ParkID=45

Horseman's Park on the West Orange Trail - Southern Apopka - West on Colonial Dr 1 mile to North Orange Blossom Trail (SR 441). Turn right and take SR 441 North from Orlando to Clarcona-Ocoee Rd (about 5 miles), left onto Clarcona-Ocoee Rd for 4 miles then right at Apopka Vineland Rd. Cross the railroad tracks. Turn left when the trail itself does too at McCormick Rd. (about 1 mile). When the trail crosses the road to the right and disappears over the rise, take next right (Damon Rd.) to the park. 30 miles round trip (to County Line Station and back). One potentially dangerous downhill into well a traveled roadway just before Winter Garden Trail Station (about 10 miles away) - MUST be able to BRAKE on a downhill! Limited facilities at this end of the trail. Otherwise a good Level I-A trail. http://parks.orangecountyfl.net/dept/cesrvcs/parks/ParkDetails.asp?ParkID=10

Buddhist Temple on the West OrangeTrail - Follow above directions, but just after crossing the railroad tracks, turn left into the access driveway immediately after the Buddhist Temple entrance and just before the trail itself!

Cross Seminole Trail - Oviedo - Take East Colonial to 436 (Semoran Blvd). Go left on SR 436 to Aloma Ave. Turn right on Aloma Ave and follow it about 8 miles to downtown Oviedo. At the heart of downtown will be the First Baptist Church on the left and The Townhouse Restaraunt across the intersection also on the left. Park beyond the restaraunt in the diagonal trail head parking area (Railroad St.). Trail begins behind the church. Water fountains & restrooms located at the half-way turnoff (Black Hammock Trailhead). Trail length 4 miles. Good Level B-I trail. Trail is in excellent condition! Mostly shaded. Highly recommended!

Cady Way Trail - Orlando - Take E. Colonial (hwy 50) about 3 miles, go past the Fashion Square Mall on the left, turn left on Herndon Ave. Trail head parking is on the right just past the Post Office. This trail (one of the very first trails to be built) has been recently resurfaced. It is the closest trail to downtown Orlando. Trail length 5 miles, but now connects to the Cross Seminole Trail. Level B-I trail. http://parks.orangecountyfl.net/dept/cesrvcs/parks/ParkDetails.asp?ParkID=9

Rinehart Road / Crossings Trail - Lake Mary - Take I-4 East to the Lake Mary exit. Go right for less than 1 mile, to Rinehart Road. Trailhead and parking on far left corner of the intersection. Restrooms and drink machines available. Trail Length 3.6 miles and expanding to the south and east. New I-4 overpass connects this trail with the Seminole-Wekiva Trail! Take your thermoneuclear protection (sun block) with you - no shade!

Pleasant Hill Road Recreational Pathway - South Kissimmee - This eight-foot wide paved path begins at the intersection of John Young Pkwy and extends along the west side of Pleasant Hill Rd. ending at Marigold Ave. The path is accessible from both shopping plazas located at either end of the pathway and is approximately 15 miles long. Recently lighted for nighttime use. More a sidewalk than a trail.

Neptune Road Connection Trail - Kissimmee - 8 miles first along Lake Tohopekaliga and then Neptune Road. Starts at Lake Tohopekaliga Yacht Club. This 10-foot asphalt paved path consists of two bridges crossing over Florida's Turnpike and the C-33 Canal. This portion of the trail will connect the existing Neptune Rd. recreational pathway to Kissimmee Park Rd. which joins on to an eight-foot sidewalk leading to Hwy 192 in Saint Cloud. Upon completion, the pathway will connect the Saint Cloud Lakefront with the Kissimmee Lakefront. Kinda rough skating.

General James Van Fleet Trail - Mabel to Polk City - 27 miles of NOTHING but straight road. No facilities, no water, no food. Use at your own risk, and take LOTS of water or sports drink. Could be bad news if you are not up to it and properly equipped (don't forget your skate wrench). WE RECOMMEND YOU NOT SKATE ALONE! There is no traffic on this roadway to come to your assistance, and there are 'critters' (turtles, deer, cows, snakes, aligators, . . . ) along the trail! There is an increasing number of CFTB skaters using this trail now so hook up with them if you want to try this one!

Lake Minneola Scenic Trail / Clermont Trail -

Withlacoochee Trail - Running 46 miles from SR50 at Croom (near Brooksville), north through several small country towns to just south of Dunnellon. A very nice trail to skate. It is 12 feet wide and constructed of a mix of asphalt and ground rubber. That makes for a relatively smooth and resilient trail surface! This is a great trail to skate/bike as a group! There are several trail stations and bike/skate shops along the way. Inverness makes a great starting place, and from there you can go north or south. To get to Inverness, take the Florida Turnpike north to Wildwood, go west on SR44 into downtown Inverness, go north on SR41 3/4 mile to North Apopka Ave, turn right and go three blocks to the trail station.
