I have been inline skating (Tuesday Night Urban Skates and Half-Marathons) for about 9 years. I skate on Rollerblade Lightning 09's and Kitalpha Beta's. I am 66, married, and also bicycle with my wife. I try to keep this club/group going, and set up this web site as an Orlando skater's meeting place. I also enjoy Computers, Photography, and Astronomy.

Skating interests? Ooo: slalom (and if anyone knows of a good spot in Central Florida PLEASE tell me, I need my conage fix), stopping (then sprinting), nightskates, freestyle dance (incl. roller rinks).. Does enjoying to the grind of urethane on asphalt count as a "Skating Interest"?
I've been inline skating since August '90.
I like slalom (as in conage (http://skatecity.com/c+w/), not skiing), city/night skating, and stopping.
Oh and I have stickers on my skates. :-D

I just returned to Orlando on 8/10/05 after being in Long Beach, California on a 26 week travel Nurse assignment.  I started skating a few months ago primarily for fitness.  I began skating on the Long Beach Bike path and absolutely love it.  I need to learn the basics like maintaining my skates, stopping and turning.  I'm OK on straight, smooth roads, but I'm really afraid of falling.  Since I've been in Orlando I've skated on the Little Econ trail, but the wooden bridges are kinda tricky.  I went to the Cady Way Trail the other day and was going to start at Fashion Square but quit when I got to the intersection at Bennett.  I froze and was afraid of crossing the street in skates.  I'm planning on joining the group on Thursday in Baldwin Park.  I look forward to meeting everyone.  Be patient with me.... I'm old and I'm slow.

I love skating and usually skate from the H.S. (mile 8.5) to the 0 mile marker 2-3 times a week.  Sometimes I don't make it that far.

I am always skating by myself and want to find some people to skate with.

Hello, I try to skate or run 3-4 days a week. Whenever possible I try to skate the Little Econ Trail. I have only met up with club membersthere once because of my work schedule. I will have WTF off starting in January so I hope to attend some skates then. I have tried Van's Skatepark but at 34 those ramps are tough on me when I wipe out so I think I will stick with street and trails. On a personal note I am a single dad with two kids, my eleven year old girl fit right in at Van's and is becoming a good skater although she does not have real good stamina yet. My 6 year old boy isn't ready to skate yet so  I follow him on his bike. I usually try to do my skating when they are at school. I run two miles near my place then roller blade 6-8 each day that I exercise followed by about 20 minutes in the gym.

I'm a 29 years old, male, brazilian, married, 1 daughter (wife is pregnant again!) and I decided practice inline skate 2 months ago, for the first time in my life, as an exercise. I did buy my first pair of inline skates (RB Astro 50) and I'm learning by myself and I really enjoy this activity.

My wife is not the kind of person who likes exercise... so, I'm trying to find people to share experiences and ideas...

Primarily for fitness, I sk8 4-5 days a week, about 20 miles a day, at about 20 MPH. I've been an inline sk8'er for about 4 years. I'm about 15 pounds lighter when I sk8 vs when I don't.

My main fitness interest is to keep fit for the 4-s-es: Scuba, Snowboard, Snow Skiiing and of course the other "S".

I LOVE the Orlando sk8 trails. You all are sure lucky to have those trails. Ours are cracked, short, and littered with glass, dead animals, car parts, sand, and everything else you can think of! County and city agencies don't care - they keep promising to clean them up but nothing ever happens.

If you're in Brevard and know good sk8 locations or you plan to go to The Econ, let me know, expecially on a Saturday or Sunday AM.

I also created and ran the palmbaysk8.org website but there was almost no interest so I scrapped that project.. My scuba website is still up and very popular though. If anyone wants to hook up on this years Curacao divetrip let me know..

I love to go fast, but I also like to find ways to make my skating more efficient, and improve my stroke, and stopping techniquies.  I did some skating several years ago at an indoor "roller rink" with my friends.  But only really seriously started skating outside about 3-4 months ago, I've put quite a few miles on.  So far all I've been able to afford is 4 wheel skates, but I just replaced my wheels and bearings (finally) for the first time, and I'm actually able to go fast on the trail again.  My skating is pretty much confined to the Econ/Blanchard Park, trail.  There's nothing else that I know of that's really close enough to me.  I've been having an interesting time getting there though (I have to use my skates as transportation), but urban skating is an interesting challenge that I really enjoy.  I love competition, as a way to improve my fitness, but sometimes I also just like to set an average pace and look around and see everything as it goes by.  I really want to try ice skating someday, and when I save up enough money I'm going to get myself either a pair of 5 wheel skates, or those new Xenan ones with 100mm wheels, those look like alot of fun.  I goto school in the Winter Park area.  Thats about all that comes to mind.

I started skating Cady Way about 1995 two times weekly with a friend and sometimes West Orange on the weekends. Even did 50 miles one weekend onPinellas, then my friend took up 'spinning' and I was just about to give up skating when I found this group last year (2003) and the Saturday Morning Skate. We added Sundays, we've done the Withlacoochee twice in the past few months, now some Speed Training for Disney. Really looking forward to Athens to Atlanta in the fall of 2004.

Really, most aspects of skating interest me, from aggressive, to fitness, to speed, to marathons!  Of course I'm that way with everything I do, computers, music, photography, etc...

I started skating in mid 2000.  My main reason for starting to skate is fitness/weight loss.  Now, I'm getting more into speed & distance skating & skating in various events including races & charity skates.

Mainly skate at Ft Frazier Trail during the week, start time varies depending on what time I wake up...  Pace varies between 8 & 15MPH with occasional sprints up to 20MPH.

On Sunday mornings (usually around sunrise) I generally skate the Van Fleet Trail from Green Pond Trailhead North for anywhere between 20 & 38 miles.  Pace is usually pretty steady at between 10 & 11MPH

If you want to join me to skate, send me an email.  I can provide exact directions & my cell phone number.

I used to roller blade when I was 12 years old but I never had the passion for it that I have now. Now I'm almost 19 and I have nowstarted rollerblading 3 times a week. On a usual workout, I skate roughly 13 miles which takes me 53 - 55 minutes. I skate with regular 4-wheelers. My balance and ability to brake are not that great, but being an ex-runner, my endurance is very high. I'm tired of cruising on trails and flying by everyone. I crave for some competition. Although it seems like I'm all about racing, I don't mind kickin back and skating casually with a friend or two.  I prefer to skate on fairly straight, isolated trails with few traffic interruptions. I recently purchased new 80mm wheels so my times will continue to improve. If you want a partner, don't hesitate to ask. One thing I should note, however, is that I'm going off to college (FSU) in 3 weeks but I will come back on holidays and summers.

I've been skating since I was very young, but I only got serious about going fast and covering distance last year.  I try to skate once a day for about an hour; this means that I cover around 10-15 mi/day (I skate on-campus, so there's some starting and stopping) or about 70-100 mi/week.  Right now, I'm using Verducci Corsa leather speed boots on Verducci 5-wheel frames--just upgraded from Riedell plastic boots and am waiting for the blisters to heal.  I like going really fast whenever possible!

I just joined the group and am looking forward to skating with them in the near future. I am in the Music business and I spend a lot of time on the road. I've skated all over the US and Europe and I've been looking for a group in the Orlando area to skate with. I was a member of the Peachtree Road Rollers for a few years and I am looking forward to getting back in to a regular skate. I was doing some competitive speed skating in Atlanta, but it's been about 6 years, so I'm looking to get back in shape with the group.

Hello everyone,

I am a beginner to inline skating.  I am a 36 year old male.  What i'm looking for is an instructor or just someone willing to take a few minutes out of their day to take the time to teach me how to inline skate.  Once I can skate without falling down every two feet I would like to skate with others for fitness, friendship, etc...  I currently live near Apopka and close to the West Orange Trail/Clarcona's Horsemans Park until August then i'll be moving closer to the airport area.  Right now I have a pair of K2 Accent inline skates that I bought a couple of years ago that have basically sat in the closet collecting dust.  If anyone is interested or knows anyone who can help me out learning how to inline skate PLEASE drop me a line at my email address.  I check my emails daily and will respond to all who drop me a line.  Thank you, have fun, and skate safe.

I have been skating for around 12 years, in Michigan usually with my best friend Vicki, since I couldn't get my husband Jeff to skate with me.  She and I have been in many marathons and races, (she is way faster than I am) and have done A2A 3 times.  The first time was 87 miles the last 2 were 52 miles. We were on Team in Training and also National Skate Patrol.  I am an average skater that likes to go at my own pace.  Jeff and I moved down to Orlando in May of 2004 and what a welcome we had!!! Skating here is really different than in Michigan, and Vicki was my motivator.  I don't work yet, but I am now looking for a job, hopefully it won't interfere with skating.  I also have played volleyball and softball, and am looking for a local place that has drop in.  I am 44, Jeff and I have been married for 23 years and have 2 boys, Tom (21 and the golden child) and Steve (19 and the demon seed).  We are HUGE hockey fans.  My favorite tv channel is 13.

I am a fitness skater since 1999 and enjoy the outdoors very much. Skating indoor is just not the real "thrill" for me. I don´t care about the seasons and skate whenever the streets are dry, even in winter. There is no cold weather, only bad clothing ... ;-)
I have 4-wheeler Roces skates. In 2002 I am going to attend my first marathon runs to see how I compete with others. If I like it then maybe one day I will have some 5-wheelers, too. Hey, they are so damned expensive ...

I originally started Inline skating in the mid 90's in South Florida. I would go skating in South Beach almost every weekend. I eventually got into friendly drop in games of Roller Hockey. However, in the late 90's I moved to Dallas, TX and with it I stopped skating. Two years ago, someone at my work found out I use to play roller hockey and invited me to join an ice hockey team being put together at work. I really got into ice hockey and thoroughly enjoyed it. I moved back to Florida a year ago and in an effort to improve my ice hockey game and to get into better shape, I started to Inline skate again. I was then inspired by a friend who did the running 1/2 Disney marathon and I signed up to do the full Disney Inline Skating Marathon. I completed the full 26 miles in 2 hours and 34 minutes (10 mph pace). I know that is not a speed pace, but it really inspired me to get a lot more into the sport. My goal is to complete the marathon next year in 2 hours! I'm looking forward to meeting other people in this group and to find good trails in the Central Florida area.

Hi everyone.  My names Jeff and thanks to the Olympics I've become completely enamored with the sport of speed skating.  I'd have to say though that I would prefer to skate on an oval rather than street racing.  Basically though i would just like to get into it.  I'm 21 and have skated for about 8 years, playing hockey mostly.  The one problem I have is that I know nothing about speedskates other than they have an extra wheel.  I can't afford to go buy a professional pair either because I'm a poor college student so if anyone can help me out in gaining a knowledge of speedskates it would be greatly appreciated.  A couple pairs I've seen that are in my price range are Tour 800's and Bont Shark Attack.  My email and IM are Conkzilla, both on AOL so if your not busy and want to let me know, go for it.  I live right next to Sanlando Park so I'm right on tht trail, I'm not sure of the name of it but it goes from 436-434.  I skate on there sometimes.  My skates are set up for hockey though so there not made for long distances.  Anyway, I'm hoping to get into the sport and waiting to here about everything that goes with it.

As a long-time Tampanian (since 1971) and of the Tampa Bay area (since 1959), I officially became an inline skater on May 22, 2002 when I took my brand new Rollerblade-brand inline skates to Lettuce Lake Park (Northeast Tampa) for my first real workout, which was 7 laps around a newly resurfaced ultra smooth, twisty 1 1/4 mile-loop trail.  I was instantly hooked!  This was exactly 1 month before my 54th birthday.  I had skated only a few times before on rented skates, but as a competitive runner, I never thought I would have time to pursue it as a serious endurance sport.  Someone had mentioned inline skating at work and something immediately clicked in my brain!  The following weekend, I checked the ads and found myself at Sports Authority, rummaging through a clearance bin.  I found a pair of black hard plastic Rollerblade Hydrus skates and tried them on.  They fit and, at $39, the price was right.  I bought a set of pads for $10 more than the cost of the skates and was good to go.  The following Wednesday (May 22nd) was my first official workout at the above-mentioned park.

Fast-forward to today (1/30/05).  I have skated in 2 marathons, 2 half-marathons, and a number of shorter races.  My marathon PR is 1:32:01 (Northshore Inline Marathon, Duluth, MN, Sept. 2004).  I never thought I would ever be able skate as fast as I can ride a mountain bike (17 MPH at Duluth).   I am looking forward to my first Eddy Matzger clinic in Tampa (Feb 26-28, 2005)

Whenever any of you are in Tampa, please let me know with a post & I'll be glad to skate with you at one of our many area trails or link you up with one of the weekly skates.

Took up inline skating in April 2004.  I usually skate on the Cross Seminole Trail (Oviedo/Winter Springs), and also on the  Econ, and I look forward to checking out other trails.  I would enjoy skating with other enthusiasts, so if anyone would like to join me, just send me an email.  My weekend schedule is flexible.

I like to skate in urban areas at night and during the day. Recreational and Aggresive style. And I am also interested in Marathons (I just completed the WDW Half Marathon and now I want more!). I own a pair of Rollerblade Aero 7ALU Rec skates and K2 250cc Agro skates. I am 6 foot 2 and just starting to become more athletic. Mostly availble to skate late in the evening or all day sundays, and also early morning some week days!

I used to be into aggressive skating back in middle/highschool, and would love to start just rollerblading again.  Not specifically aggressively.. About me... I'm 22, full time job, own a business.. i have two dogs (catahoula Leopards)  .. a wonderful girlfriend of 2 years. (marriage to follow???)  We are both just looking for something fun to do.  For christmas we got rollerblades, i had some already, but new ones never hurt :)   My hobbies consist of Home Theater .. more of a passion really :)   I love computers.. i'm a bit of a nerd i guess.. but then again most people in my age bracker seems to be ..

I really enjoy roller blading. I have been blading for about 4 or 5 years. A great way to clear my mind and keep in shape. I hope to make some of these skating events and meet new friends.

I've been skating for longer than I care to admit!  Had quads since late 70's when I skated nearly every day on the streets of Manhattan. Switched to inlines about 6-7 years ago. I've become a dedicated skater since moving to Florida (Longwood) about a year ago. I start my day most weekday mornings skating a fast 4 miles in my neighborhood.  I try to make the Most Excellent Saturday Morning Skate every weekend that I can. I skate to wake me up and clear my mind, for the exercise, and the sheer joy of the sport.

I'd love to find a skating buddy to go out on the Wekiva trail with on Sundays or for an occasional quick skate after work.

I live near 434/436, so I have easy access to San Lando or San Sebastian

  1. I don't know how to inline skate, but am willing to learn, have 4-wheel skated since I was 4 or 5 years old.
  2. I have 3 boys, Mark 16, Jesse 12, and Joseph 9 who all inline skate, and can't understand how people would could have ever 4-wheel skated.
  3. I hope to get everyone in my family together at the same time to go to these skate functions, but if I can't .  So I have decided that if they can't join me, I will and they can fix their own dinner.
  4. I attend college at Valencia.

Well i'm new to this board and just learning how to skate.  Hoping to get into it more, mostly for fitness and recreation.  I am interested in skating on good trails and with small groups.  Hopefully I'll get better at it and see where it goes from there!

I am really only interested in being outside, enjoying the weather and feeling the wind against my face.  I have only been on inline skatesfor about 1 year.  I just recently joined your group and hope to meet you all very soon.  I skate everyday around my apartment complex and I've also used the Cady Way Trail.  Other than that, I am completely new to the sport.  Do you have any suggestions as to which skating adventure I should do first, the Tuesday night or Saturday morning.
